Time after time, there’s something about elephants that calms me down, that puts the world on pause for a moment and that makes all day-to-day worries instantly disappear as if they never existed. That is exactly why I appreciate elephants so much, I simply love how small and insignificant they make me feel, clearly defining that I’m just a small part of something much greater and making me realize that we as humans are just a tiny little wheel in the chain of life,

That also happened on this magical morning in Chyulu Hills, when eye-to-eye with One-Ton, one of Africa’s most iconic Supertuskers. After having spent 5 days in a row with him, he decided to walk away from his little bull coalition of askari’s in the soft morning light, positioning himself perfectly at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and waving me an intimate goodbye. A moment that will forever be etched in my memory.

What people say about my prints

★★★★★

We have been following Pie’s work for more than 5 years now. Therefore, having one of his Umoja prints decorating our home, is not only an incredible honour, but also a testament to our support for his mission as an artist and conservationist. His work is now a beautiful daily reminder of our own memories made in Africa on various trips to Kenya as well as Zambia.

★★★★★

It’s been such a rewarding process to pick & choose the artworks as well as the materials for our two framed Umoja prints. Pie carefully guided us through the entire process and even invited us in his studio in Amsterdam to see some of the samples in person. His approach to making art as well as his commitment to protecting nature, is tangible in every step of the way.
